Waking a Sleeping Giant
How do you wake a sleeping giant? "Very carefully," you say. Well that may be accurate when the giant is one big and potentially grouchy guy. But what if the giant is a massive amount of people? During periods of great reformation, and there have been many throughout history, large numbers of people become engaged. How does this happen?
Is it because of the leader? Is it the times and circumstances? Maybe it's the message? It's probably all of these, but it is also the power of one. The power of one is at the heart of all periods of great reformation, and that is a paradox that often goes unnoticed. The power of one shows up at times in massive numbers of people moving together in concert, as it were, to have a significant impact in the world. History records these movements precisely because of the large numbers of people participating and impacted, yet history can never truly capture the power of one that produces it. History can't record it because it must be experienced. Come on, be a part of the waking giant!
Scripture: 1 Peter 2:4-5
As you come to him, the living Stone-rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrafices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
