We Love Learning

As many of you know, I am a school teacher as well as a pastor.  Because of that, I often interpret the Bible through that filter.  One of the marvelous things about the Bible is that the variety of backgrounds and settings to the many stories it contains provide a way for everyone to relate.

As a teacher I am very concerned with what may be the single most important element of a teacher's success, classroom management.  There are many ways to manage a classroom but there are some common principles in all successful ones.  So, I have been meditating on the concept of truth and learning and the question emerged, "How does God manage His classroom?"  This metaphor is very rich in its potential to produce in us a vibrant walk with God.

God is the greatest teacher and there are many paths to travel down in answering that question.  For our purposes today we are going to pursue the following absolute and immovable law of God's classroom management.  God knows that every student (every human being) loves learning because it reveals and creates freedom.  Meditate on that, I'll bet all your "learning experiences" weren't as inspirational as that sounds.  In fact, I wish my own classroom reflected that law better than it seems to.  Nevertheless, it is true.  We do love learning!  Then why does it so often seem hard?  Good question, I'm glad you asked.
